Change history

Below is the full change history of the Blogo project:

v1.75

  • The homepage now has a "continue reading" link in the bottom, making it easier for readers to continue reading entries sequentially (26)
  • The issue concerning the relative javascript links causing various (non-destructive) HTTP errors in the server log is resolved (37)

v1.70

  • IP information of comments are now logged. IPs can be blocked from further commenting by maintaining a block list directly from the web panel (21)
  • The blog description field is no longer HTML-encoded, allowing block administrators to put javascript in it, for example to maintain statistics (23)
  • Fixed bug related to the encoding of search results (17)
  • Year is now included for comment dates (19)
  • Added two buttons to blog form to allow an existing entry to be re-saved by using the current date, or the original creation date (20)
  • Removed 10-item limit from article and category feeds, allowing RSS clients to control the maximum items, instead of the hard-coded server limit (16)
  • "All articles" link is now on top, consistent with the tag cloud link. The view is now sorted by date (22)

v1.60

  • Added fullscreen rich text editing writing blogs, articles and pages (12)
  • Updated rich text editor TinyMCE to the latest release
  • Seperated content pages and stylesheets, to make it easier to edit stylesheets (08)
  • Added RSS URL override option to setup form, allowing you to use 3rd party feed managers (10)
  • Documented the default stylesheets, making them easier to customize (09)
  • Added a article feed, that only lists articles (13)
  • Updated the manual

v1.51

  • Fixed bug 06: html code and script elements blocked from TinyMCE

v1.50

  • Added rich text support for writing blogs, articles and pages!
  • Fixed bug 03: encoding of header scripts
  • Fixed bug 05: blog entry not showing more than 30 comments
  • Fixed bug 06: custom tags not included in tag feeds
  • Dressed up the manual

v1.30:

  • Added tagging support. You can predefine tags in the application setup form as well as enter them manually per blog entry. A tag cloud is added to visualize the popularity of tags. Tags are also used in the meta keywords field to optimize the blog for search engines
  • A bug that appeared in the javascript validation of blog entries in Internet Explorer is fixed
  • You can now directly edit blog entries by opening them and clicking the edit button (only when logged in). This way you do not first have to go to the admin panel and find the entry you want to edit
  • The meta name description field is now automatically filled with what you enter in the description field in the application setup form
  • Problem where searching for more than 3 words always results in no search results fixed
  • Fixed issue where too many blog entries in the application would let the view navigation arrows dissapear
  • Manual is updated to include the new tagging feature

v1.25:

  • The navigation panel that lists the categories you have blogged in, now has a feed link per category, allowing users to subscribe to specific categories of topics on your site
  • Earlier versions of Blogo already allowed you to define custom header scripts. This way, you can enable ads on your site. This version ads an Google AdSense optimization feature. When you enable this property in this advanced section of the blog setup form, only relevant parts of your site will be used by Google to deliver context-sensitive ads
  • Logos and manual are rebranded according to the new s3maphor3 brand look & feel

v1.20:

  • Added support for social bookmarking. Per blog entry, you can now specifiy whether users can bookmark it at one of the popular social bookmarking sites.
  • Added basic Notes client support. Support is limited to browsing content, not editing it.
  • Added a basic, yet highly effectivec comment spam protection mechanism.
  • Bugfix: amount of comments was indicated too high in the archive view and when opening a blog post. Fixed.
  • Bugfix: broken image links for rating stars. Fixed.
  • When deleting an opened comment, it asks to confirm now.
  • Bugfix: navigating views in the web administration panel using next/prev arrows works correctly now.

v1.11:

  • Fixed the broken reference to the average rating image.
  • Updates RSS images, replaced by the official feed icons.
  • Replaced standard header logo to be more neutral. Header logo is now clickable, and leads to the homepage.
  • Updates to the manual and about screen.

v1.10:

  • Improved look & feel. The default looks of the blog template has been altered. Internally, all image resources are removed from the design and placed into a single master resource document. This gives you more flexibility when altering the looks of your blog.
  • Script header option added. In the setup screen a new script header field is added. All content (HTML,Javascript) placed in the field will be inserted in the header tag of all your pages. This is handy when you like to use third party services, such as statistics and banners.
  • Deprecated themes. I removed the themes feature from the template, as I feel it adds nothing and only annoys when changing color schemes (since you have to update the theme icons as well in that case.
  • The RSS navigation block is now higher on the page. This makes it easier for users to find the icons, especially when you have a large archive (before users would have to scroll down)
  • A new description field is added for blog entries. The contents of the field will be only visible to RSS users. It describes what the new blog entry is about, so users can decide to read the full story or not.
  • Better page titles. Individual pages now have an appropriate title, which is better for search engine indexing and bookmarking.
  • Confirm deletions. Before, deleting a document from the admin panel did not ask for a confirmation. Since the delete and edit icons are so close together, a user could accidentally delete a document. Now you have to confirm a deletion first.
  • The manual is updated to reflect these changes

v1.00:

  • Editing existing comments did not work properly. This works now.
  • Sometimes comments that users submitted did not get stored at all. Fixed.
  • The search block now validates as valid XHTML.
  • The "All Articles" page did not show all articles. Fixed.
  • When users enter their personal website in a new comment entry, starting with "www.", the resulting link did not redirect properly. Fixed.
